Mental Health At The Levels School
We aim to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for our whole school community (children, staff, parents, and carers), and recognise how important mental health and emotional wellbeing is to our lives in just the same way as physical health. We recognise that children’s mental health is a crucial factor in their overall wellbeing and can affect their learning and achievement.
There are three teams which support mental health at The Levels School - the Staff Mental Health Team, the Student Mental Health Team, and the Student Mentor Team. Please click on the appropriate links to discover more.

Assessing Students' Mental Health
Students experience extensive communication with tutors, therapists, and all staff around the school, which affords a continual assessment of their mental wellbeing. Where a student is identified as needing further support, a designated Trusted Adult will ensure that our students have ample opportunity to express any difficulties they may have. Use of the SEN register and tutor time questionnaires can also highlight areas of concern for students, and this allows for appropriate intervention to prevent problems from escalating.

Peer Mentoring Team
Peer mentoring is defined as when one student gives time to support and encourage another student voluntarily, on a regular basis. A team of students have volunteered to support new and vulnerable students as they settle into The Levels School, giving particular support at social times. Peer mentors are trained to help the new students to make new friends and enable them to find their own peer friendship groups. Feedback from previous years has shown the enormous benefit from support within the student body in addition to support from the staff body. Mentoring is particularly important during the Autumn term, but can be something introduced to support a student who is struggling with friendships through the school year.
